Worcester property owners pay real estate taxes to three entities - Worcester Township, Montgomery County, and the Methacton School District.  Each entity assesses a different tax rate.  As of January 1, 2020...

  • Worcester Township assesses a 0.0500 millage rate;
  • Montgomery County assesses a 3.8490 millage rate; and,
  • Methacton School District assesses a 30.3781 millage rate.

Worcester Township presently has the lowest municipal real estate tax rate in Montgomery County.

Real estate taxes for Worcester Township and Montgomery County are levied for the calendar year, January 1 to December 31.  Real estate taxes for the Methacton School District are levied for a fiscal year that begins on July 1 and ends on June 30.

Real estate taxes are collected by an elected Tax Collector.  Please note that the Tax Collector does not work out of the Township Building.  Please use the above-noted phone or e-mail to contact the Tax Collector.

Worcester Township and the Methacton School District levy an Earned Income Tax (EIT). The EIT is assessed on wages, salaries, commissions, net profits of other similar compensation. The EIT is not assessed on Social Security, pensions, disability income or similar compensation. The EIT rate is one percent (1%), with a half percent received by the Township, and a half percent received by the School District. The EIT is collected by Berkheimer Tax Innovations, a professional collections firm under contract by the Montgomery County Tax Collection Committee, to which Worcester Township is a Member.

The Per Capita Tax (PCT) has been eliminated effective January 1, 2020. Please note that any outstanding taxes due as of this date are still due, and must be paid. All residents over the age of 18, and who are not full-time students, are subject to the PCT, which is levied at the rate of $1 per year. The PCT is collected by Berkheimer Tax Innovations, a professional collections firm under contract by the Montgomery County Tax Collection Committee, to which Worcester Township is a Member.
