Construction to Begin January 4 to Realign Morris Road and North Wales Road Intersection

 

King of Prussia – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that construction is scheduled to begin January 4 on the $1.7 million project for to realign the intersection of Morris Road and North Wales Road in Whitpain, Worcester, and Upper Gwynedd townships, Montgomery County. 

 

Motorists will initially face traffic shifts weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. will be shifted while crews clear vegetation on Morris Road between Bethel Road and Old Morris Road and on North Wales Road between Garfield Avenue and Gold View Drive.

 

Beginning in mid-January, motorists will face daily lane closures at the intersection through the end of November.

 

Under the project, crews will eliminate two existing T-intersections and create a single four-way signalized intersection.  Crews will also resurface the roadway approaches, widen the new intersection to provide right and left turn lanes, improve drainage, and install pavement markings, and road signing.

 

During construction, there will be two separate traffic detours.  Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

 

Allan A. Myers, LP of Worcester, Pa, is the general contractor on the $1,790,282 project that is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.  Construction is expected is scheduled to finish in November 2011.
