During the construction period traffic might be reduced to one lane at times. w March 4, 2011 ~ ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT (EA) FOR CLOSURE OF THE NORTH PENN MEMORIAL UNITED STATES ARMY RESERVE CENTER (USARC), NORRISTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA (WORCESTER TOWNSHIP) The Army prepared an EA to evaluate the potential environmental impacts of closing the North Penn USARC located at 1625 Berks Road in Worcester Township, PA and solicited public comment from December 20, 2010 to January 18, 2011. Due to an e-mail error, the Army is requesting that comments submitted electronically be re-submitted. The EA has also been revised to reflect the location of the North Penn USARC in Worcester Township rather than in Norristown. The revised EA will be available at the Montgomery County - Norristown Public Library, 1001 Powell Street, Norristown, PA 19401 and online. The comment period closes on March 29, 2011. At midnight on Saturday, May 22, all southbound traffic will be diverted off at the Lansdale Interchange. Motorists wishing to travel northbound will be directed to exit I-276 at the Fort Washington Interchange to return to I-476 at Lansdale.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is
advising motorists traveling on Skippack Pike (Route 73),
between Valley Forge (SR 0363) and Bethel (SR 3006) Roads in
Worcester Township, to be prepared for flagger controlled
single-lane traffic patterns Tuesday, April 27 and
Wednesday, April 28, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.
The contractor will be performing line painting operations
on Skippack Pike at the intersections of Berks, Weber and
Shearer Roads. Motorists traveling on Skippack
Pike should continue to stay alert for daytime utility work
along the shoulder on Skippack Pike between 7:00 am and 3:00
pm and overnight work between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am (April 28
- April 30) until all the intersection improvements are
completed.
The improvements must be completed before the implementation
of the 4.5 mile detour on Monday, May 3, in conjunction with
the Morris Road bridge replacement project.
If necessary, the contractor will continue with this
scheduled work on Skippack Pike over the weekend, May 1
through May 3. The contractor’s schedule is dependent on
weather and is subject to change.
Motorists are urged to stay alert for slow-moving or stopped
traffic and use caution when approaching and entering
construction areas. Speed limits will be enforced and fines
increased.
