October 22, 2012:

Please be advised that the Northeastern Extension total reconstruction and widening project between Mid-County and Berks Road (milepost A20-A26) has been delayed and is not expected to be completed by fall 2013 as originally anticipated.

For several months, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) has been in discussions with the general contractor to determine how far and what areas of the project are behind schedule. At this time, the contractor is predicting a fall 2014 completion date of the six mile “southern” project.

The PTC does not expect this delay will impact the future construction of the “northern” section between milepost A26 and the Lansdale Interchange. That project is on schedule to begin in spring 2014.

The PTC will continue to monitor this situation and provide updated project information to the surrounding communities and traveling public accordingly.

On behalf of the Project Team, we appreciate your continued support and thank you for your patience and understanding.
